Cat Food and Cigarettes

Oh what I wouldn’t give for a little peace and quiet

Stop wet feet shot down in the dirty night

To fight these clowns’ non-stop breathing

Is killing me from within but where exactly

To I begin

Night upon night morning had broken

And all i’ve got is words unspoken about hatred

And anger and pent-up aggression

No lessons learnt in this chaotic abode

Where i’m climbing the reasons I can’t

I can’t call it home but who wants to be

Alone on a throne of bones

Skeletons tickling their own ribs in my closet

I can’t exactly stop anything round here

Though fears of the walls closing in

And it will make me begin to question

My sanity constantly spewing profanities

With a cat crawling up my back

Just to say hello and spy from my window

At the crows eating bugs from the ground

Surrounded by the sounds of howling foxes

I’m bound to be found tearing at my skin

Awaiting the bus that will tear me away

To nowhere I can pray

About becoming nothing as scary as yourself

In hell, hell, hell

Oh well, I guess i’ll just sit

Inside a migranous mind and spew blood

From my nails

I’ll never prevail

Just as long as this shouting continues to rot

All that i’ve got in this tiny jail cell

Where all i can smell is cat food and cigarettes.
