London is Killing Me

London is killing me

Killing me creatively

This city is taking bites out of me surreptitiously with greed

London is feeding off of me eating me like my kidney has beans

Liver’s exposed to the hell of the hunt of the swell time pantomime

London is killing me

Killing my creativity

One grey city of concrete, glass and steel that merely reflects

All the negativity a person feels from so much anger spotted

Dangerously, precariously on a see-saw of light and space

London is killing me

Killing my sensitivity

One dead from a motorcycle crash covered in a hideous blue tent

One dead at the bottom of an escalator, one shot dead

Escalating the violence to arson and rioting

London is killing me

Killing me habitually

Addicted to addiction smoking and drunken afflictions

Out on the prowl the night owl lives beneath a scowl

Addiction killing emotional responses to tragedy

London is killing me

Killing me hilariously

She laughs at me and my drunken revelry me thinking that this is all good times

Good times that spill into the lives of others torturing for days

Praying to the porcelain god on my knees – I never wanted this disease

London is killing me

Killing me covetously

It longs to be me or me to be her – this big beautiful city

Filled with streets that gleam with atrocities swept so fur under the rug

You couldn’t redeem it with a JCB

London is killing me

Killing me with economic austerity

We march in the streets to try and redeem our self esteem

But the man in the 10 beats us back again and again with blue smiles

Above his power red tie and blondie gives us bikes?

London is killing me

Killing me without empathy

She doesn’t care that I stumble around outside whore houses

Dreaming of finding beautiful spouses in rouge lit doorways

Where unfortunate girls trade their bodies for needles
