Ode to a Carpenter

Melancholy is a funny word

What does it really mean

I guess i feel melancholy

But i couldn’t tell you exactly

How it feels

It can feel frustrating

And frustration is what i feel

Most nights

Not because i’m not getting laid

It’s more of an over-anxious mind

Trying to escape

The confines of my brain

It is orange flashes of light

It is an orange pen

It is over-zealous fingers

That want to be put to use

Playing games and wandering

Across pieces of wood

And holding saws

Because the jesus in me

Is bursting out

Scratching underneath the skin

Attempting to escape

But i’m not going anywhere

This worm just goes in circles

Back and forth

Up and down

Never left

And that aint right.
