Ode to a K-Hole

Sure we can dance

We can all dance like sweaty fools

And tear at each other’s skin.

Chew each other’s faces off.

We can stare into each other’s vacant eyes

And ride waves of painful lies

Because Lust.

Lust is a beast with its hand down your pants.

And Love.

Love is a beast with its hand down your pants.

These closing walls and descending ceilings

Flash multicolour to distort

The feelings

For those on drugs have lost

The sense

To make

Any sense.

Of their surroundings.

Infinite faces like another,

But you hunt each other out,

Tread on toes and point at those

And drink and drink and drink,

Because you never stopped to think

where any of this might lead

Because regret is something

You can deal with

When you feel like shit tomorrow

When party you has been put to bed

And only rational you is left in your head

To ponder the things you’ve done

But hey, fuck it – now is now

So a writhing tongue and a squeezed bum

Become the epicentre of your fun

And you play games to see

If it’s anyone in here

Or specifically me that you want.

You lock on to each other

Throughout the night,

Become each other’s victim

In this insane little fight of love

And lust, mistrust and just

A few tiny words in a very long night.

Winter means you were saved

From the early rise of morning’s plight

So time it seemed

Was on your side to let you steal

Your own piece of love.

Just for you. Just for one night.

You offered each other the feeling

Of true love.

Because love is a drug

And just as addictive as any other

Sniffed, mainlined or lugged.

So lie in a bathtub

With your clothes on and talk

There’s no window to speak of

To break any light and become

Each other’s cocoon buddy for a few

Stolen hours where the dryness of

Showers hang over you like flowers

And your skin withers and cowers

Because love

Love follows you around for days

After love

Being the reason you were saved.
