The Vegan Eaters

The vegan eaters walked in front of people

People who didn’t really care for them

People who frankly didn’t give a shit about anything they had to say

Or was that just me

Me standing there with a beer and cigarette in hand

Drinking rum from my hip flask

Complaining. Always complaining about something

And this time it was the fact that poets don’t have souls

They’re up there spewing all their book-read intelligence

Into the eyes of people who pretend to listen

Pretend to care

I sure as hell don’t care what any of them have to say

I don’t want to listen to what book you read lately

Cleverly constructed into a POEM of your own words

Schooling us about lives when you aren’t even living your own.

You’re up there hiding the truth, belittling the honesty

Cowering behind what people really want to hear

No one wants to hear shit they wouldn’t read themselves

Or hunt it out for their own useless knowledge

Life is a fucked up drinking binge

Life is a mess of words stuck together

Life is just what it is

To be lived  – in your own little world
