What’s Mine is Yours

this rainfall is mine, these clouds so low and heavy

they are mine

this mosquito bite that itches behind my ear

is mine

this lonely solitude of thoughtful nights by fire

is mine

these fingers, this pen, these words

are mine

green mountains, grey light are mine

the burnt out charred up wood in the fire bathing in ashes

all mine

and this is all i have, all that i have is mine

endless time is mine this rhyme is mine the menthol taste in my mouth

is mine

these cigarettes smoked, these beverages consumed

used to be mine but the memory is mine

and these relentless rolling thoughts are mine

the charcoal stains on my fingers are mine

this day, the gone nights, the gone lights

were mine and still they belong to me

these tattoos are mine the skeleton within is mine

my beating heart the palpitations the headaches the addiction

these too are mine

notebooks filled with letters constructed to sentences are mine

the selfishness is mine

but you can have it all.

you can make it your own you can take it away and do with it what you will

because it is yours.

all that i am is yours.

wrap me up, shrink me down and carry me around attached to your keys

take me out and look at me whenever you please

show me off to the world, pen me down in scribbled words

take me home and shine a light on me

scrupulously interrogate me, stick sticky needles right in to me

dissect and analyse me repent your sins over me

use me

amuse me

eat my heart and consume me

because I am yours
